The whole cast of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein has made the tinsel town proud with this act of theirs.
Television today, has an extensive reach, as compared to its olden days. Unlike before, TV is considered to have an even wider reach than films. And what if television makes ample use of this reach of theirs?
Earlier this week, we were pleasantly surprised, while watching Star Plus’ Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. The team had incorporated a scene wherein Raman is seen expressing his extreme disgust and anger on the recent Bangalore Molestation case.
An angered Raman comes into the dining area and is seen raving about how there is a serious need for men to start respecting the women in their family as well as outside. He mentions about how he is the father of two daughters and how the world has now become a very unsafe place for girls.
What really won us over was the fact that even though its almost been a fortnight since the incident, the issue is still prevalent. In a country where newspapers are daily filled with hundreds of negative stories, the makers have tried to subtly make a point that TV shows are so much beyond saas-bahu dramas and that they care. This is a small effort on their part to deliver a right message to their loyal audience.
Earlier too, there have been shows that have raised a particular social issue with an attempt to bring about a change in the society. Recently, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma raised the topic of Demonetization and urged the citizens to not panic.
The Bangalore Molestation Case has brought a lot of shame to the society and many high profile Bollywood actors have voiced their opinion against the same on social media. But it becomes completely different when TV serials incorporate the issues in their tracks.
It is a very obvious fact that the Indian Audience is highly influenced by television dramas. And it would only be a case of hitting two birds with one stone’, if awareness is spread through these shows.
And not to mention, the world would have become an even better place to live in, if all men in the country shared the same thoughts as Raman. Kudos, to the makers of Yeh Hai Mohabbatein.
