I want to get a role where I can romance on-screen – Abhilash Kumar

Young lad Abhilash Kumar is happy playing the boy-next-door in Life OK’s Laut Aao Trisha. According to him, his character graph has shaped up well with him going through a transformation after being held as one of the suspects in Trisha’s kidnap case.

Says the actor, “Earlier, my character of Bobby was one of the suspects. But when it was revealed that the boy had a crush on his cousin sister, the character saw a change, and is now presented as the good son of the house. He is now very much concerned about his family’s well-being and is doing all that he can to trace his cousin.”

Abhilash recently shot with Bodhi Tree Productions for an episodic of Yeh Hai Aashiqui, along with actress Bhumika Gurung (reported already by us). For the first time, he will be seen romancing a girl on-screen. “The character I play in Yeh Hai Aashiqui is very different. Ashish is a college-going guy, a typical cool dude who is a very good dancer. He comes with his dance troupe to the spa where he falls for the masseuse named Kelly (Bhumika). It is a very interesting love story and viewers will love to watch it.”

The actor has yet another reason for taking up this episodic. “Singing runs in my blood, as my father is a professional singer. I can also sing well. And when I got this role of a dancer, I thought I should take it up.”

Ask him whether he does not want to take up singing seriously and he says, “Well, I am not trained as such in singing. But since it is in my genes, I can sing well. I now sing for myself (laughs). Let us see, if any opportunity pans out, I will surely pursue this skill of mine.”

Abhilash who has till now been part of youth-oriented concepts including Best Friends Forever? on Channel V wants to take up challenging roles on TV. “I have never romanced on-screen except for this episodic in Yeh Hai Aashiqui. I want to get a role where I can romance on-screen (smiles). Also, I prefer doing these college-based shows wherein the maximum connect will be the TV watching youth.”

The episodic in Yeh Hai Aashiqui on Disney Bindass wherein Abhilash and Bhumika will play central roles will be aired soon.
