Vrushika Mehta is all set to enter Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and will be seen in an all-new avatar. Last seen in Zee Tv’s Yeh Teri Galliyan, Vrushika will play the role of Dr. Riddhima, a character that has been talked about on the show for a while now and is about to bring a lot of twists and turns ahead.

What prompted you to take up a daily soap since you’ve been away for a while now?

Associating with a brand like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai was what prompted me to take up the show. More than just getting back to daily soaps, it was the role that caught my interest the most. Especially playing a doctor on the screen, which I have never played before, so I really wanted to come out there and showcase the best of abilities through this character.

Is there any kind of pressure while joining a show that has been around for so many years?

I feel that there is basic pressure irrespective of whether you portray a role from the middle of any show be it big or small, or even the beginning of a new show, as what eventually matters the most is how you portray it and what viewers are liking about it.

The primary cast of the show is young, something that resonates with the audiences as well, have you been a viewer?

The show has been around for many years now, so yes I am aware of the characters that have been a part of it throughout the years.

The show deals with a variety of taboos keeping in line with the channel’s tagline, something that you think is a stereotype and needs to be broken?

I feel that whatever content and storylines that Yeh Rishta has showcased since the time it has aired have always worked well in sync for the brand and the show, so honestly, I am not someone to speak about breaking or changing any of those aspects of the show.

The webspace has been flourishing like never before, what are your plans for the OTT?

Yes, it’s great to see such amazing growth in the digital and OTT space in the last one year. The boost has been tremendous with a variety of diverse and good content to choose from due to which the webspace is doing very well! So yes, if and when the time and opportunity are correct, I would also love to be a part of the OTT platform.

With the new phase in Kartik and Naira’s life, and a new entry, viewers can expect some high-voltage drama in the show ahead.
