The rage that mythological shows have re-created in times of lockdown is evident and, in fact, only seems to be doubling with every passing day. Considering there have been so many shows, only a few actors have to manage to create an impact playing iconic Lords.
Considering there have been so many shows, only a few actors have to manage to create an impact playing iconic Lords.
From the likes of Arun Govil as Lord Ram, Nitish Bharadwaj as Lord Krishna to Sourabh Raaj Jain as Lord Krishna and Gurmeet Choudhary as Lord Ram, a few generations have made a huge impact indeed.
Also belonging to the list is actor Vishal Karwal, who played the role of Lord Krishna back in 2011 in the show, Dwarkadheesh – Bhagwaan Shree Krishn, where he gained a lot of popularity.
Now that the show is being rerun, Karwal opened up on the same in an interview with Times of India saying, “The show had done extremely well when it was originally aired nine years ago. I am sure that many people will be happy to watch Lord Krishna’s miraculous life again on the small screen. Also, in this time of distress, it’s nice that the channel has decided to bring back such culturally-rooted shows, which help spread positivity and motivate viewers.”
Karwal also talked about how he was asked to refer Bhawadwaj’s portrayal of Lord Krishna in the original Mahabharat made by B R Chopra. Bharadwaj said, “After signing the show, my producer suggested that I watch the old ‘Mahabharat‘ to understand the nuances of the character. However, I was determined to do my own thing and find my ground. I did intense research and read many scriptures to understand every aspect of Lord Krishna. I must admit it took me some time to embody the character authentically since I was playing a mythological character for the first time. This will always remain my most cherished role.”
