Ace director-producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah is almost ready with his latest television venture Pukaar – Call For The Hero” on Life OK and seems to be brimming with joy at the final outcome. The series reportedly boasts of some never before seen action sequences on small screen. Famous Bollywood action director Allan Amin has directed the stunt sequences and sources close to Vipul insist that this is his mega attempt at recreating the same visual impact through action sequences that one normally sees in his movies.
While Vipul has tasted huge success on the 70 mm with his action packed movies like Force, Commando and the more recent Holiday starring Akshay Kumar, television could be a different ball game altogether where content different in nature may or may not be accepted by audience. A case to point out is Amitabh Bachchan’s Yudh which sank without a trace. Action packed series like Anil Kapoor’s 24 too was met with a luke-warm response. Will Vipul, whose films have crossed 100 crore at the box-office be the game changer? That remains to be seen.
While there may be a number of doubting Thomases, a close hand reveals that Vipul is super confident about Pukaar doing well and has decided to screen the entire first episode to the media at the press conference next week.
At a time when filmmakers prefer to screen their films to the media only on the day of the movie’s release, Vipul looks all ready to tread the path less taken. Will the gamble pay off? One will have to wait for that.
Helmed by Deven Bhojani, Pukaar – Call For The Hero will see television hunk, Rannvijay Singh donning the fatigues to play the role of a soldier. Will this soldier bring enough pleasure or pain to Vipul Shah? Let’s wait and watch.
