Story so far: Govindnarayan Agarwal (Akhilendra Mishra) and his wife Surekha (Amita Khopkar) are one of the affluent people in Mathura. Their son Ashish Agarwal aka Titu (Priyanshu Jora) on the other hand known for his laziness and thinks that since he has a rich father, there is no need for him to work. Since Titu was born after 18 years of marriage, Surekha totally dots on him and does everything for him. Govindnarayan doesn’t approve of this and scolds Titu for being so lazy but Surekha always defends her son. All the girls in Mathura love Titu. A hardcore romantic person, Panchi (Sonia Balani), daughter of police officer Kamlesh and Pratibha is an intelligent girl who is very good with her studies. Due to her father’s transfer the family shift to Mathura. By chance encounter, Panchi falls in love with none other than Titu. One thing led to another.
Panchi’s parents doesn’t approve of Titu due to his laid back attitude and idle lifestyle. Some unfortunate incidents add to their growing resentment towards Titu. Though Titu considers Pancchi as his friend, she on the other hand falls head over heels in love with him. When Govindnarayan realizes this, he senses the opportunity to get rid of Titu’s idle lifestyle and make him a better person. He announces Titu’s wedding with Panchi. Where Govindnarayan and Panchhi are happy about the wedding, they receive strong opposition from Kamlesh, Pratibha and Surekha. Surekha even threatens to leave house with Titu, if Govindnarayan doesn’t cancel the wedding. Govindnarayan stays firm on his decision. He even tries to pacify Panchi’s parents. How Govindnarayan and Panchi convince the resisting parties for this upcoming wedding will be seen as the story unfolds further.
What works: Normally the main lead is blessed with all the good qualities but in Tu Mera Hero lack of such qualities in Titu makes him more real and loveable. He believes in totally different philosophy of life which not many people can agree upon but works in his favour. Panchi represents today’s girl who knows her mind and doesn’t hesitate to follow her dream, even if it meant going against her near and dear ones. All the characters are apt for their respective roles. The dialogues spoken with the special Mathura accent make them more authentic.
What doesn’t work: A fast moving script would have made the show a bit more interesting. Also, how a present generation girl like Panchi can fall in love with Titu who has no ambition in life is questionable, but as they say ‘Love Is Blind’. We hope her reason will get more solid ground than just Titu’s nature of making other people laugh, in coming episodes.
Our take: This romantic comedy is sure to win audience hearts. Priyanshu Jora and Sonia Balani fit their role as Titu and Panchi perfectly. Priyanshu has succeeded in making lazy Titu, a charming personality! Sonia as Panchi looks confident and delivers with panache. Priyanshu and Sonia can be the strong contenders for the most promising on-screen jodi for this year for sure!! Whether it’s a negative role or comedy, Akhilendra Mishra never disappoints us and the same goes for Amita Khopkar who after a long time will be seen in Hindi TV show. Tu Mera Hero is like a breath of fresh air which you can enjoy with your entire family and have a daily dose of a good laugh.
