SAB TV’s popular show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah recently completed 1900 episode. The longest running show celebrated by cutting cake on set.

“This is my favorite serial. It is the funniest show and also cleanest. I even watch the promos of the show,” says a diehard Pakistani fan Misbah about this serial. Then one Manipuri fan started talking to Daya in Daya’s voice tone. “I keep practicing her voice and talking style,” she laughs. Recently, political envoys from different European countries on Indian visit have been coming to Film City to watch the shoot of TMKOC. “This kind of love brings in heavy responsibilities. 1900 episodes for a daily comedy serial is unheard of in India and in abroad too. I can never sit back and relax because of the audience expectations. Churning out different tracks and maintaining the interest of the audience is a challenge that we are now addicted to. Slowly our fan base has increased and evolved. We get feedback from across the country and cultures,” says the creative advisor and producer of the show Asit Kumarr Modi.

Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah connects equally well with the youth and old alike because of its clean entertaining values and subtle social message. “This is a fact. Everybody I have met till date has said that Taarak Mehta show is the best family entertainer. I am so happy that we are touching 1900 mark. Even today every track we do, is fresh. No story has been repeated. I go for a shoot and feel as if I have come to my second family. I pray that it never ends,” comments Disha Vakani. Says Gurucharan, “it’s the Balle Balle time. 1900 episodes is so difficult. Specially more so because comedy is very difficult genre when you don’t have help from cheap below the belt jokes.”
