Sriti Jha recently surprised one and all as she took up a new Haryanvi avatar on the show for a new twist in the tale.
Zee TV’s popular fiction show, Kumkum Bhagya has been an audience favourite with its intriguing plot and the authentic portrayal of relatable characters like Abhi (Shabbir Ahluwalia), Pragya (Sriti Jha), Rhea (Pooja Banerjee), Ranbir (Krishna Kaul) and Prachi (Mugdha Chapekar). In fact, the recent sequence where Abhi was shot in the head left viewers stunned and they were waiting with bated breath to find out whether their favourite star is still alive or not? In a surprising twist, the makers showcased that Abhi is back home, but no one knew about his true condition except Aaliya (Reyhnaa Pandit). Pragya tried very hard to convince the family to let her meet Abhi and even called the police, but Aaliya influenced everyone and does not let Pragya meet Abhi. To find Abhi and make sure he is fine, Pragya took up a new avatar and entered the house.
Usually seen donning elegant and colourful sarees, Sriti recently presented her new maid avatar for the very first time. She took up a fresh Haryanvi look for the show and left all the viewers surprised as she entered the house as a new character, Gayatri. Aaliya hired her as a domestic help who was seen cleaning the floors and doing all the household chores in a bid to find the room in which Abhi was kept so as to know what had really happened to him. The disguise not only fooled Aaliya and the family, but also the viewers as she convincingly hid her face and spoke in a different dialect altogether. While the household chores were not that difficult, it looks like Sriti did face an issue with the diction.
Talking about her new avatar, Sriti Jha who plays the role of Pragya in Kumkum Bhagya mentioned, “The new twist in Kumkum Bhagya has been very exciting. It is completely different from what we’ve done and I am enjoying the shoot. However, it is painful to see Abhi being so helpless at the moment and I must say, Shabir is portraying his part extremely well. On the other hand, Pragya has taken up this new maid avatar of Gayatri and I have to say it has been very challenging. Her diction, the Haryanvi language and all the nuances have been difficult to grasp, but I am trying very hard to get it right. The creative team, the production team as well as my co-stars have been very supportive and have been giving me tips to portray it with the utmost conviction. We’re trying our best to entertain the audience and I hope everyone enjoys watching me as Gayatri as much as they like me as Pragya.”
While Sriti continues to impress us with her acting chops, will Pragya be able to get Abhi’s memory back? What will be the new twist in the tale?
