Actor Sourabh Raaj Jain who is known for his remarkable performances in mythological and historical genres has bagged a fresh and prominent role in Sony TV’s Patiala Babes. The actor has been roped to play the lead along with Ashnoor Kaur.
Sourabh who also enthralled the audience with his dance moves in Nach Baliye 9 got candid about Patiala Babes, his character and much more in an exclusive conversation with India Forums.
How excited are you on joining the cast of Patiala Babes?
I am quite excited to be part of Patiala Babes. The entire conceptualization and theme of the show was what intrigued me the most. The show has from the beginning brought out an amazing message of empowering women and that is what built my liking towards it. So yes I am eagerly looking forward to being a part of this lovely show!
You have mostly worked in the mythological genre and received a lot of appreciation for the same. So, what made you choose Patiala Babes now?
Patiala Babes is definitely a refreshing change for me, as from the past few years I have been part of a variety of successful historical and mythological shows, which were again costumed dramas. And now Patiala Babes is different of course, which I am quite happy to be a part of. And I feel lucky that when I was looking for a change, I got this opportunity to be a part of such an empowering and wonderful show.
Tell us something about your character?
My character Neil in Patiala Babes is a very good chef. He is also someone with a backstory to his life, which will slowly be revealed through the course of the show. And due to this particular backstory, he is constantly changing jobs, and is also in a bit of a financial crunch, but is not someone who wears his emotions on his sleeve easily.
Patiala Babes is a successful show and Ashnoor along with the rest of the cast have already made a place in the viewer’s heart. How difficult do you think it would be for you to make a place for yourself?
My character is going to be a fresh face in the show, post the leap. So honestly, when it comes to making a place for myself in it, I feel that this is something which will depend on the audience liking towards Neil Oberoi. Though he is a very interesting character with an intriguing backstory to his life, and also someone whose personality is tough from the outside and soft from the inside, so I am quite sure that the viewers will soon adapt a liking to him.
Webspace is trending these days, even renowned filmmakers and actors are trying their hands into digital content. What are your thoughts on the growing trend of digital content? Would you like to work in a digital series?
Yes, the webspace is definitely opening its doors to a wide audience and target group at the moment, and it is doing fairly well in its space. So if given a good opportunity, script and role I would too, of course, love to explore the digital world as well!
