Just like the talk around coronavirus, the talk around Tiktok also certainly doesn’t seem to be getting colder anytime possible. Owing to the on-going #BanChineseProducts campaign, multiple celebrities have also come forward and mentioned about quitting Tiktok, the most popular and controversial application.
On that note, another actor has joined this brigade and that is none other than actor Shubangi Atr aka Angoori Bhabhi from Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hain. The actor has quit Tiktok and closed her account to show solidarity for the movement to embrace local and not foreign. “I have quit it to support more local businesses, instead of letting apps from other countries prosper in our economy right now. It is true it is a popular medium and may even be used for future promotional activity in this new normal. But I will stick to my decision of not getting onto it as of now. There are many other mediums and I will use those from now on. I wish others could also try and use more local platforms for their need.” Talking about her fans using and missing her on the platform the actress says, “Yes I had a lot of Tiktok fans, but of course I can’t ask them to leave the platform altogether. But this is my way of saying no to a particular country’s product when the said country has created a lot of issues for us and our soldiers.”
She also expressed her opinion about the movement ‘vocal for local’ as she said, “I have always believed in this movement, that our Prime Minister spoke about. I have always been a very handloom person. Even for household, I buy jute carpets, and art pieces made by local artisans. With Modiji asking our support for the same to support the economy, now I’ll consciously buy these products.”
When it comes to surviving the lockdown days, she mentioned how she has made new feathered friends, “I stay on the first floor and have a view of our society garden from my balcony. Every day a number of birds are visiting the garden these days in the absence of human activity. We have sparrows. parrots, parakeets and so many other birds that visit. They have become my new friends. They also my new morning alarm. I hear their chirping all day long now.”
She maintained how she is a nature lover and would rather prefer spending time with nature as opposed to going to parties. She said, “For a retreat or holiday I prefer going to a national park or places that are in the middle of naturally green surroundings. Whenever I used get time on our set in Naigaon, I would sit, watch the birds and observe their way of life. I have also started making a note of their names and species. I keep looking up their names on the internet. Mumbai mein koel and mynah spot karna mushkil tha, but now we can see them too.”
