One might wonder if that is the case with actor Shivya Pathania as well who is now set to be seen in her third mythological show – Baal Shiv, where she will be playing the role of Goddess Parvati.
One of the most common occurrences while working on the small screen – is getting stereotyped. We have witnessed more and more actors going on to get stereotyped in two instances – either they have been a part of a long-running show or they have been loved for one character so much that they keep getting similar offers for multiple shows as well.
One might wonder if that is the case with actor Shivya Pathania as well who is now set to be seen in her third mythological show – Baal Shiv, where she will be playing the role of Goddess Parvati. Interestingly, Pathania doesn’t believe that as she went on to talk about it an interview with ETimes TV.
She said, “As a child when I would watch actresses play divine characters on the small screen, I would always wonder what made the makers choose them for the part among the rest? Will I ever get a chance to portray one? However, when you start working, you tend to forget your childhood aspirations. So, it’s like a dream-come-true moment for me. Besides, I am a Shiv bhakt and I am getting to essay Parvati on the show. Also, it’s not that I don’t get offers from other genres. I believe that God himself has chosen me for this character. I am working on other projects simultaneously and the audience will get to see me in a different avatar. The industry is a beautiful place to work in and has evolved so much that I don’t feel stereotyped. I am able to do multiple projects at a time.”
When asked if she will take a break from working in the mythological genre, she said, “Never say never. As an artiste, I don’t plan in advance. People had so many plans and then the pandemic struck. It has taught us to take life as it comes. I live in the moment and love what I do at that time. I am not averse to any character or genre. As of now, I am living the character of Parvati. I can’t predict how things will pan out in the future.”
She further added, “A common perception is that an artiste portraying a mythological character has to perform within certain restrictions. I, too, used to feel that playing such characters would be extremely difficult but not anymore. All you need to do is be real and don’t take any pressure.”
Concluding on the delay and now confirmation surrounding the release of Baal Shiv, she said, “I would definitely call it a blessing in disguise. We utilised the time to further enhance the story and our performances. We got an opportunity to portray our characters better. I am grateful to the team of the show for keeping everyone positive. Also, what better time than Diwali to be informed of the news that the show is launching soon. I believe in God and uski marzi ke bina toh patta bhi nahi hilta. It’s according to his plan all the time.”
