And of course, it shows Harshad and Jennifer like never before.
It has been a week of Bepannaah, as the much awaited Harshad – Jennifer starrer went on air the past Monday. While, there has been a lot of buzz about the show, we hereby analyse and criticise the happenings of the show to understand how well did it fair afterall.
Read on to know what we think about it.
The Story
The show begins with glimpses of both Aditya (Harshad Chopra) – Puja (Namita Dubey) and Zoya (Jennifer Winget) – Yash (Sehban Azim), and those glimpses immediately leave with a hint of doubts and questions in both Aditya and Zoya’s minds about their partners. In a turn of tragic events, Aditya and Zoya cross paths when their respective partners die in a car crash. Both their partners, Puja and Yash respectively are found holding each other’s hands which gives rise to another mystery.
While at the hospital, the two of them try to comprehend the situation and try to come to terms with the fact that their partners were cheating on them. Though Aditya relates this to Puja following his father’s footsteps (who cheated on his mother), Zoya isn’t ready to admit about Yash cheating on her. Amidst all of this, as Zoya tries to reason with her father about the situation, followed by Aditya having an argument with him and slapping him, for having gone too far speaking ill of Yash.
Despite all of this, Aditya and Zoya celebrate the special occasion as promised. While Zoya is still in denial, Aditya has tagged Puja as a cheater. Meanwhile, Aditya’s father tries to find Puja’s diary in their room, which only raises a few eyebrows. Zoya makes a decision to go to Mumbai against her parent’s will and that’s when she has an encounter with Aditya yet again, while in the flight.
The last rites take a dramatic turn of events as Yash’s family does not allow Zoya to get any closer to the body, while Aditya arrives drunk. At the cremation ground, Aditya and Zoya come across each other yet again and Aditya continues to crib, before him reminding her about their cheating spouses.
Just as Zoya decides to leave for home, a conversation with Aditya at the airport, along with an argument leads her to take a decision of staying back and fight against the accusations.
How will she stand up against Yash’s family and when will Aditya and Zoya be with each other, for good is what will be an interesting thing to watch ahead.
The Good
From the very first instance in the show, you will be in complete awe of Jennifer Winget aka Zoya because you are totally smitten by the innocent Zoya after the brutal Maya in Beyhadh while Harshad Chopra totally allures in the beginning but you begin to feel sorry for Aditya as the show progresses.
Having talked about them, it is extremely important to mention
how the camera shots and angles are just about perfect, thereby adding some depth to the script and portraying the situation better. Not to forget, the beautiful locales of Mussoorie have been captured just perfectly.
With Yash and Puja shown dead in the first episode, there seems to be a lot yet to be known as both Aditya and Zoya’s father seem to have in some way a mysterious connection to the accident. There is a lot of intrigue that keeps the viewers hooked on to the mystery.
The Not So Good
Captain Aditya Hooda, a pilot, is shown to have two stars on his collar while if recalled, one is to have three stars in there. This only makes us wonder if proper attention has been given to detail.
In a very typical turn of events, Aditya turns a drunkard while Yash’s parents blame Zoya for his death. Surprisingly, no one is talking about Yash and Puja holding hands and causing infidelity.
Also, not to forget all those forced instances where just about every time Zoya and Aditya come across each other, even at the crematory ground, they choose to bring the bodies at the very same place. Out of the so many flights available, they land up in the same flight to Mumbai, and so many more similar such things that come across as anything but coincidental.
Some instances come across as too cheesy, like how Zoya and Yash seem to have romancing by the balcony, while some are extremely insensitive like how Zoya is shown helpless and not allowed to be any close to the body or enter the house.
Performances
Jennifer as Zoya Siddiqui is impressive after having an image of hers as Maya and the powerful character that it was. There is nothing that Jennifer has not done to get into the skin of Zoya, and that is totally visible as we witness the transformation of hers from the brutal Maya to the tender and innocent Zoya.
Harshad as Captain Aditya Hooda is a treat to watch as while one might have thought that Jennifer will take the show away, Harshad infact doesn’t let her overshadow him, and has done justice to his character. Those intense emotions and the emotionless spouse who has been cheated upon, it all comes out as just how it should.
P.s: The fans are definitely in for a treat as they get a glimpse of his chiselled hot bod.
With only glimpses of Sehban as Yash Arora and Namita as Puja Hooda, the two have been integral and have given a direction to the story, their acting has been the packagaing to the story in ways more than just one.
Verdict:
With a script that is strong, and a cast that spells success, Bepannaah is definitely not your run-of-the-mill daily soap, but it is only with passing time that it will become what it promised to be in the beginning.
