PromoReview: Shilpa Shinde’s coaching to Sunil Grover seems a HILARIOUS failure!

Colors is already the numero uno channel for the umpteenth week running and it is now planning to venture and keep up with the IPL (Indian Premier League) fever too.
IPL begins tomorrow and the whole world has (evidently) been waiting for it. However, this is absolutely amazing on Colors’ part to come up with a show which doesn’t have to deal with the pressure of losing viewership during IPL, but in fact launch a new show based on cricket, to keep the numbers running.
And the word comedy has almost become synonymous with the talented Sunil Grover, who will be officially appearing in a comedy show post his infamous fallout with Kapil Sharma.
Not just that, the show will also be featuring Bigg Boss Season 11 winner, Shilpa Shinde, thus making it a combo to look out for.
There is a bundle of ironies here, but we will get to that later. With the promo of the show being launched, we analyze the same-
What’s It About
The gorgeous Shilpa Shinde begins the promo with mouthing cricketing jargons to Officer LBW (Sunil Grover) and it is only after a few seconds that you realize that she is using them metaphorically to help LBW tie his tie.
So, Mr. LBW is an oblivious man, who is constantly tutored by Shilpa about the rules of the game and even then he continues to royally fail, when he says the last line, “jeetega vahi jo zyada goal maarega na” (the one who scores the most amount of goals will win the match, right?).
Shilpa signals to the camera that we are dead and it is a waste to make LBW understand anything.
The Good
The two people present in the frame are a treat in themselves, where Shilpa looks gorgeous than ever. Plus, to see her in a show after such a long time, where she plays a comic character looks promising. And what can be said about the man, Sunil himself? Once again, you just see a glimpse of his character, Officer LBW, but you already know that Sunil is going to nail it with full conviction, as his comic prowess is at its hilarious best in the promo.
There is a certain freshness attached to the show’s concept and execution, where Sunil playing a new character is a great refreshment as Gutthi and other characters are now done to death, and the idea of marrying comedy with cricket is amazing, only because you have amazing talent to pull it off.
The Not-So-Good
While I love the idea, I also have my doubts, as to how much ‘cricket’ will we actually see. The only reason I say this is because we will legit see cricketing experts like Kapil Dev and Virender Sehwag on the show. But, I am all game for a little entertainment and laughter between cricketing talks, but mildly skeptical to if it will become an all-out entertainment show with little cricket to talk.
The Verdict
As mentioned above, there are so many ironies to look at here. Sunil Grover quit Comedy Nights With Kapil the first time, only to return to the same show later, and now Sunil has his own show, while Kapil is on a different channel. Over a year ago, there were rumors about how Shilpa Shinde will be a part of The Kapil Sharma Show and share the stage with the man, but that never happened. Now, she does so with Sunil himself. Coincidences, ironies, call it as you like!
With Sunil being the genius comic and Shilpa Shinde’s rising popularity, the show has all the ingredients to be a sleeper hit for sure. We say sleeper hit because the show will be airing on Sundays at 11 pm, where if you have had to see a riveting encounter between your favorite IPL teams, you then have the chance to relax and have a laugh watching Officer LBW on Jio Dhan Dhana Dhan Live.
