The trend of ‘adapting’ films on television has overtaken the television industry currently. Recently, we saw the promo of ‘Dil Se Dil Tak’ which is apparently adapted from the film, ‘Chori Chori Chupke Chupke.’
And here we are all set and ready to witness another much-awaited show, ‘Woh Apna Sa’ which is apparently adapted from the film,’ We Are Family’. The show presents its first promo and has been in the news for all this while as it marks the comeback of actresses, Disha Parmar and Ridhi Dogra Vashisth.
The promo begins with an on-going marriage where a hand is shown separating the bonded cloth between the bride and bridegroom and is immediately followed by a hand joining the same bond. The difference, however, in this visual is that the hand that joins the bonded cloth is that of Disha Parmar’s character who is smiling.
What follows is a series of events where the questions asked convey one single thing, which is ‘will she join the family or will she break the family?’
What’s Good?
The series of events portrayed are absolutely fantastic, be it bonding/debonding the wedding cloth, spoiling/filling the rangoli or pushing/saving the family photo frame. The way the dialogues are personified into the scenes is mesmerizing.
Disha Parmar, who is seen on the TV screen after such a long time, instantly captivates you with her smile. She has innocence which is infectious and of course, the three looks she has sported in the promo are beautiful.
The premise of the show looks impressive and it gives you a homely feel which makes you connect instantly.
What’s Not-So-Good?
Though the show is apparently an adaptation, it goes without saying that the show usually makes a lot of changes. However, surprisingly, the look-and-feel makes you instantly think of the film, ‘We Are Family’ (for those who have seen it). Disha’s character will be that of Kareena’s character in the film. However, it is certainly early to judge the complete premise of the show.
The Verdict
It is after a long time that you witness a clean, simple visual treat with capturing dialogues and a homely feel to it. Actress Ridhi Dogra Vashisth also makes her comeback and has merely a glimpse in the promo. However, that is enough to leave a lasting impression. The show seems promising as long as it doesn’t go textbook in adapting the film.
