The actor gets candid about her next… Mariam Khan – Reporting Live.
Mahima Makwana is quite excited about her new STAR Plus show Mariam Khan Reporting Live where she has entered post leap. “It has just been two days but I am getting a very good feedback. So fingers crossed.”
Mahima reveals that she deliberately did not watch the earlier episodes, “I wanted to play the character completely as per my vision. Also, with the show taking a leap, the whole ballgame has any which ways changed already.”
Talking about her track she says, “Given the past (her father was a scribe who is falsely arrested on terrorism charges), Maraim hates journalism. Yet, she will fall in love with Fawad Ashraf (Param Singh ), who practices the more market-oriented journalism rather than the truth-seeking variety .”
In a short period of time on set, Mahima has gotten along well with most of existing actors and Param, who has entered along with her . “At first, I was hesitant of being able to find my feet in a setup which was already up and running, But I am glad that they all have accepted me with open arms. Param and I are also gelling up well.”
Mahima who began as a child artist is quite happy with her career progress so far. “I seem to have got where I want to be. But yes, this is just the start and I have miles to go before I sleep.”
Talking about her last show Rishton Ka Chakravyuh, she says ,”It gave me a lot. I had never played a jhalli girl, who moves from Uttar Pradesh to Bihar. Also working with veterans like Narayani Shastri, Sangeita Ghosh and Anju Mahendru helped me a lot. I just wished that this show had ran a tad longer, but then everything has it’s own shelf life as well.”
Here unlike many actors, Mahima makes a frank admission that some of her role choices might have not been spot on. “I will not want to play a bahu, being too young for that. But the most important thing is to learn which I have. And I don’t want to be restricted just as a TV actor, but would want to do more south films (Venkatapuram) and yes also experiment with the web.”
Speaking of her preferences on doing a role on web, Mahima reveals that she would not have issues if her role would be bold. She says, “It allows us to escape the limitations of the TV format. Having said that, edginess needs to be justified by the script and not added just for sensation. You also need to walk the right balance.”
