Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin actor Neil Bhatt spoke to Indiaforums about the positives and the negatives of daily soaps and he sure has an insight to give. Read what did he say here.
Neil Bhatt, who is currently seen in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin has been in the industry for a while now. The actor has been receiving a lot of love as Virat and the show continues to make it to the top shows as far as the TRPs are concerned. It also features Ayesha Singh and Aishwarya Sharma in the lead role.
We asked Neil about what would he say are the positives and negatives that come along with daily soaps as per his understanding and to that, he has quite an elaborate answer to give. He feels, ”I think the positives are this that as an actor, you get an opportunity to engrave your character into your audience’s minds because you are actually penetrating into their houses through the television sets and people have more access to you. You are exposed to them daily, they are connected to you and your character, and they sort of find you synonymous to the roles, there is an image that you create. On a personal front, as an actor, and I am sure many would agree to me, there’s a constant flow of income through television because films and other mediums in comparison to television have more work.”
He adds further, ”The negatives could be that since you portray a character, they don’t know you as the person you are. Because in television, as the norm goes, they don’t really sell actors, (for a lack of a better word) they sell characters, and you are known by the character name, not by the actor’s name, so there is an image attached to it. I find it as negative that audiences don’t know you as an actor, they associate the character’s traits to you, and they start judging you. However, while it is an opportunity to connect, sometimes, you are also overexposed, and hence, it depends on how you look at it, sometimes it works for you and sometimes it doesn’t. There aren’t any set negatives, but it also depends on the industry, so to each his own.”
Neil made his television debut with Arslaan in 2008 and is popular for his roles in 12/24 Karol Bagh and Gulaal, among other shows.
