All you need to know about Bigg Boss 9!

Bigg Boss 9 is ready to set the small screen on fire. Like every year, the entire Colors team has already planned out an exciting way of promoting their much loved reality show Bigg Boss. And like every year, speculations and conjectures have already begun in media circuits. From the contestants to the host to the theme, numerous media organisations have given out multiple reports on the same. But we were the first ones to inform you that it will be Salman Khan back yet another time with BB9. We also exclusively told you when the show goes on air this year.

SALMAN’S SIXTH TIME!
The show changed its host multiple times till the fourth season. Arshad Warsi to Amitabh Bachchan to Shilpa Shetty, the first three seasons had a shift in the show’s anchors. But ever since the fourth season, Salman Khan has been reigning the TV medium with his trademark antics and crazy camaraderie on the show. And with Bigg Boss 9 as well, it will be Salman returning to the Bigg Boss stage, for the sixth time. He shot for the BB9 promo on Friday in a studio in Karjat. And he proudly announced on Twitter, saying “Bigg Boss 9 is mine”

NO ONE BUT SALMAN
Remember how Salman bid a fitting farewell to Bigg Boss last year? Also he was captured on camera, numerous times, claiming how BB 8 was his last season the show. But thankfully, he has decided to come on board for the ninth season as well. How did the deal work out? A source shares the details, “The channel and the makers were adamant on getting him on board because thanks to Salman, the weekend ratings have always been on a high. Plus according to the recent BARC report, Colors has established itself as the leading channel with the highest rating points. The channel does not want to risk it and moreover, there could not have been any better choice than Salman for sure. The makers anticipated a lot of backlash in Salman’s absence and hence the extended version suffered a blow.” So did the makers pay a hefty sum to get Sallu on board? “Oh, almost double,” laughed off our source. It is being said that the channel has offered Salman a whopping Rs 6-7 crore per episode. Now, that’s a mammoth sum, we must admit!

PROMO OUT ON SEPTEMBER 10
Salman Khan has shot for multiple promos for Bigg Boss on Friday. The first promo will be going live on air on September 10. Says a source, “Last year, the team started the show around September 20. This year, there’s a slight delay because the channel has Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa to be wrapped up and Salman too was busy with Bajrangi Bhaijaan’s release and finish the shooting for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo. But the first promo will be on air in less than a week now.”

OCTOBER SE CHALU
With over two weeks of delay in the campaign, the channel will be placing Bigg Boss in the prime time slot yet another time. “The show begins airing from October 3. Like every year, the opening will be a grand spectacle of more than two and half hours,” revealed our khabroo. The show will run for a little over 100 days and will have its finale around mid-January next year.

NO EXTENSION?
Last year, there was an extended version to the show called Bigg Boss Halla Bol wherein the top 5 BB8 contestants had to battle it out with 5 of the older contestants to reach the top. Salman couldn’t shoot the extension, hence Farah Khan was roped in. But the show suffered and the ratings remained relatively lower. “The channel’s strategy to increase the show’s duration didn’t work last time. So this time, they aren’t looking for any extended version at all.”

NAVRAS- THE THEME?
Every edition of Bigg Boss had a sense of novelty attached to it with respect to the theme of the season. Like for season 7, it was Heaven and Hell, for the show’s eighth instalment, the contestants were made to live in a plane for over a week. What will be the theme for Bigg Boss 9? “Keeping in mind that it’s the ninth edition, the channel has decided on having Navras as the main theme. So the show, this time will be a mix of the nine human emotions. Also it will have nine different colours splattered throughout the entire space.” Another source tells us, “Even Salman will be shooting for nine promos, each with different clothes of different colour shade, resembling the nine emotions.”

BIGG BOSS HOUSE
The Bigg Boss house this year will be bigger and better. Now, we all know it because that’s what the show publicises every time. But we hear the interiors of the house will also be made keeping the Navras in mind. We can’t wait to see how the house will look this time round.

CONTESTANTS KAUN HAI?
An interesting mix of contestants will be seen this year as well. While BB 9 makers have already approached a host of celebrities, there is still no confirmation on anyone’s participation. The buzz is that the makers had approached Radhe Maa too but she declined the offer. Ditto with MSG actor Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Insaan. Shweta Basu Prasad, who was in news for allegedly being involved in a sex racket was on the channel’s eadar but the actress has refused to be a part of the controversial show. But the names that are almost finalised includes TV actors Gaurav Gera, Mahi Vij, Parth Samthaan, Rashami Desai, Asha Negi, Sana Saeed and Roadies winner VJ Bani. But definitely, most of these won’t be taking the offer and the channel will eventually prepare a list keeping all the fields in mind. so there will be TV actors along with failed Bollywood stars, sportsmen, models, a foreign import, politicians and others.
