Sai Deodhar Anand who makes her comeback after four long years with Colors’ show Udann speaks with us about the same in this exclusive chat.
Sai Deodhar Anand has always been known for the kind of characters she has portrayed; be it Saara Akaash or Ek Ladki Anjaani Si. This extremely talent yummy mummy actor makes her comeback with Colors’ Udann after a sabbatical of four years.
Sai speaks about her character in the show, her association with the director Guruodev Bhalla and how fortune she is to be associated with a show same as Mahesh Bhatt.
You are making a comeback on television with Udann after four long years. What kept you busy throughout?
I was on a sabbatical for four years because I became a mother and I have a daughter who is three years old. During this time, I took a break from acting but yes I was producing a serial for Star Plus and also a produced a Marathi film which will release next month. I had done Saara Aakash with Guruodev Bhalla and at that time he had told me ‘the day I open my own company, I will approach you for that show.’ Later, after ten years he came up to me and told, Sai I have the role for you now.’ And when I heard the concept and the story of the show, I actually had tears in my eyes. I told him then, Guru I am definitely doing this show.’
Mahesh Bhatt has conceptualized this show. How do you feel when you have someone so experienced associated with the same show like you?
It is sheer fortune. Today, being in television industry, it is just luck that we are getting an opportunity to work with someone like Mahesh Bhatt. We are getting a chance to listen to his thoughts, his vision and the way he deals and tackles with a particular subject. I am extremely lucky in that respect that I have got this opportunity to interact with an experienced man like Mahesh Bhatt.
How different is this character from the rest of the characters that you have portrayed on screen?
As I said earlier, in real life I am essaying the role of a mother and on screen as well I am portraying a mother’s character. As I am growing as a mother in my real life, on screen also I am growing as a mother too. The role that I am playing is coming very naturally and effortlessly to me. So it’s very exciting for me. I feel, if I was to play the same role four years ago, the feel that I am getting as a mother would not have been similar then four years back.
Talking about these young kids of the show, how has your experience been till now to be a mother of such talented kids?
Chakor (Spandan Chaturvedi) is playing the role of my daughter. She calls me mamma even off screen. It is great fun. The energy that you get from these kids, their innocence that is something I cannot convey in words. Every time you look at them acting or doing anything, you reinvent yourself too. All in all, I am enjoying a lot.
What is your character all about?
I am essaying the role of Kasturi who is a very strong woman like any other mother. When it comes to the child, a mother can go up to any limits to protect her child. Kasturi is also the same. She is going through a lot of wrongs and she does not want her child to go through the same what she is going through. She fights till the ends and sees to it that she can liberate her child from all the evils.
Now since you have a child to take care of, how will you manage your family with the shoot?
I do not know (laughs aloud). I do not plan it. I take it every day as it comes and thankfully I have a great producer Mr. Guruodev Bhalla whom I have known for a very long time. So I know one thing that if there is a problem at home, the entire production really is very supportive. So I can manage it accordingly.
Any message to your fans?
