Here’s All You Need To Know About The CHARACTERS in ‘Porus’

Sony TV’s Porus has hit the television screens already and has been receiving rave reviews. With the show being just three episodes old, we decided to decode all the characters, both who have been introduced and who are yet to be introduced.
So here we go.
Aditya Redij as Bamani, The King of the Paurav Rashtra:
Bamani is an independent leader, a good person by heart and is someone who is very proud of his achievements. His dialogues evoke determination and instill confidence in his subjects. He is also a very straight forward king, who has no malice or bad intentions in his heart.
The reputation and integrity of the Paurav Rashtra is of utmost significance to him and he has some set of rules which he follows. However, this leads him to take few steps which are not always ethical.
But he has a weakness – that is his love for his older brother, Shivdutt.
Bamani After Anusuya’s assumed death
Post Anusuya’s death, Bamani turns skeptical, short-sighted and becomes guarded. He also loses his self confidence, rational thinking and follows and believes Shivdutt to the extent that he ends up making the wrong choice of letting the Persians take strong hold of his kingdom.

She has immense love and loyalty for India and is a true patriot. She has strong traits that truly defines her personality and is truthful, far-sighted, fearless, beautiful, patient, sacrificing and strong-willed. And subservience is not her weakness but strength with her knowledge and intelligence not just being limited to books but her also being truly insightful.
Anusuya after losing Porus:
This tragedy hits Anusuya hard, following which she loses her mental balance and doesn’t let anything go of her hold. She continues to have a feeling of hatred for outsiders especially the Persians who are trying to invade India. In her sub-conscious mind, she will continue to react to foreigners’ influence in India.
Laksh Lalwani as Porus/Puru:
He is the Protector of India and a proud Indian. He believes in unity and hence is bent on uniting India against foreign invaders. He is fearless, inspirational and a brave leader and never gives up in any kind of circumstances and always gives importance to humanity. He is full of strength, headstrong, democratic and good with strategies.
Aman Dhaliwal as Shivdutt, Bamani’s Elder Brother
He is an effeminate and though the truth of him being an eunuch is not known to everyone; his behavior and mannerisms portray his feminine nature/side. He uses the fact of being an eunuch to his best advantage. He believes that he has best of both worlds – that is a woman’s mind to destroy and play along with the strength of an elephant.
He is also a sadist who likes to inflict pain on himself. Adding to this, he is manipulative, cunning, fickle minded, extremely ambitious, king maker, blinded by hatred for Taxila, expresses anger through Tandav, but in privacy. He also likes to play with his hair and his weakness is Bamini later Kanishk. He will not accept half blood heir to the throne.
Praneet Bhatt as Darius, the Persian Trader
He is ambitious, shrewd, manipulative, ruthless and articulate. He is also a bit poetic in his dialect where his words are often double edged. He says, “I’m a dog…the biggest dog amongst the dogs in the dog house”.
He is someone who always gives example of Farus. He is proud of his lineage who thinks he is better off than Indians. He believes in divide and rule policy and has a sharp judgment. He is also a smooth talker to the extent of being calm. He loves playing the game of thrones and if some one outsmarts him, he thinks of him as challenge and indulges in the game.
Sameksha Singh as Olympias, Alexander’s Mother
She is possessive, passionate, vengeful, proud, delusional, superstitious, sassy and sarcastic. But at the same time, she is ambitious, imaginative, vicious, strong-willed and can be impatient at times. She is also ruthless for her self gain, self centered for herself and her child.
Sunny Ghanshani as Philip, Alexander’s Father
He is barbaric, ruthless, crude, short-sighted, self-righteous and boisterous.
Rohit Purohit as Alexander
He is invincible, over-confident, fierce, ruthless, enigmatic, charming, manipulative, far-sighted, strategic, sophisticated, ambitious and unpredictable. He loves his mother a lot and to conquer is crucial for him. He believes that only winners are remembered and there is no place for who-comes-second in history. He believes in win or die attitude.
