But the real story lies in between these high moments. Currently, Divyanka is the most followed TV actress on social networking sites. She is the quintessential girl-next-door, effervescent, and is living life to the fullest.
During a recent social media campaign for a popular brand, the actress walked down memory lane and shared some noteworthy moments from her life!
1.I never wanted to be an actress. I wanted to be an army officer. I was good at NCC activities and was told that I was the best cadet. It is the kind of designation given to you when you go for Republic Day camps; that is what I was a part of when I was in school. I was a very good rifle shooter. I don’t get to practice much now, but I think I can still shoot.
I participated in a reality show, and after my performance, I got a call for an audition, which is how it all began.
2. I belong to a middle class family, and we had never traveled on a plane. After convincing my parents to allow me to go to Mumbai for an audition, my dad and I would travel from Bhopal to Mumbai and vice versa in a bus. When I look back, it was all worth it.
3. After I bagged the title role for Banu Main Teri Dulhan, I thought it will run for 6 months, so I thought I’ll come back, do my UPSC, and give the SSB examinations for the Army, but that did not happen, as the show ran for 3 years.
4. Banu Main Teri Dulhan ran successfully, but after the show, I was out of work for a really long time. That was a tough phase. After you taste the highs and the perks, you’re suddenly pushed to the ground. I would get depressing thoughts.
Nobody was giving me work because Vidya from the show, the character I played, became too famous. They said everybody knows Vidya, so you cannot play anything else. For a very long time, I didn’t have work.
5. It was a tough phase, and I had to make the right choices. I would have to read a 3-page script for a 3-minute audition, gave plenty of them, and repeat the same the next day. This did go on for a long time. Then I did a comedy show just to have a change in flavor, so that people could see me differently. After the comedy show, they said she is a comic face, so we cannot take her.
6.The biggest turnaround in my life came through when Ye Hai Mohabbatein was offered to me. It was a really long wait and the struggle was real, but when this happened, it all made sense and the feeling was surreal. It was only possible because my parents kept me motivated. I had faith in my talent. Look where it has brought me. The journey has been amazing.
7. Without a doubt, my life changed when I married Vivek, who is my best friend, companion, and a partner who came in my life fit like the missing piece of a puzzle.
Well, a life as interesting as hers can make its way into a movie. We hope filmmakers are listening!
