The actress has quite a bold role…
From shows like Gangaa to Satrangi Sasural, Divyanganaa Jain has gained lots of love from every houses. She was also a part of Naam Shabana which was directed by Neeraj Pandey.
Recently, we learnt that Divyanganaa will be a part of a period drama show that is Prithvi Vallabh, which will be a defining moment for Indian TV.
When we asked about this news and about her role, she said, “Well, yes! The news is very much true. I am portraying the role of a beautiful and innocent courtesan (veshya) from Manyakhet (a place in South India) named Kosha who is a strong woman and is born and brought up in a brothel but has bigger dreams.”
When asked what all she had to undergo to prepare for her role which was very challenging, she added, “I was approached for the show in March last year and I weighed 59 kgs at that time. I have shed around 10 kgs for the role. I also indulged myself in Kathak classes as Kosha is a well trained classical dancer. For the first time I am playing a role which demands an on-screen intimacy and bold scenes. Kosha has so many emotional layers as a character. She is strong, ambitious, understanding and yet a very naive girl who believes in unconditional love. So it was very challenging to get hold of the character. At first I was very nervous but I am so grateful to the creative producers of the show for believing in me throughout. Personally as an actor, I look for a variety in my work and this is something very exciting, new and bold for me. Kosha is very close to my heart. She has inspired me to be a better person in real life. I am so grateful to her. I literally miss her when I am not shooting (haha).”
