Shooting for daily soaps abroad is a fast catching up fad with the television industry. Not only had this experiment always worked, it’s a guaranteed win win situation for the cast and crew.
The cast and crew gets to explore new places and get a break from the monotonous schedule of going to the sets and then home every day. It also benefits the makers in terms of TRPs as such shoots always garner huge numbers.
In our ‘Bestof2016’ features marathon, we will today write about shows that flew their cast and crew to scenic locales out of India, to shoot for scenes crucial to their storyline.
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai : This year, the first daily soap crew to fly out of India was Rajan Shahi’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Known for leaving no stone unturned for his show, Rajan Shahi chose to shoot one of the most important scenes of his show in Switzerland. The scene in question was the return of the new Naitik (Vishal Singh) (the old one Karan Mehra had quit the show) and the ‘milan’ of Akshara (Hina Khan) and Naitik. And when one goes to Switzerland, he/she can’t forget to remember SRK and Kajol’s DDLJ. Rajan even recreated the DDLJ magic for us with his gen next couple Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan, who play Naira and Kartik respectively. The crew shot in Switzerland and Zurich.
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein : Following closely the heels of Yeh Rishta was another Star Plus show, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. The Balaji show shot in Australia not once, but twice. Yeh Hai Mohabbatein saw two leaps and the background for both these leaps was the separation of Raman (Karan Patel) and Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi). The only difference was that during the first leap Raman and Ishita’s split was real where, in the second one, their separation was fake. Both the tracks fetched the show skyrocketing TRPs. The crew shot in Adelaide city.
Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil : Post Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, another show from the Balaji Camp flew abroad. But this was a brand new show, Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil. The crew shot in Innsbruck, Vienna, and Tirole. Unlike the other shows in the list where the crew has flown down abroad to shoot for key highlights, Pardes… is a show that is based in Austria and stars a fresh pair Drashti Dhami as Naina and Arjun Bijlani as Raghav. The show is based on the famous Bollywood flick Pardes.
Mere Angne Mein : The Mere Angne Mein cast has also flown down to Bangkok to shoot for the romance track between Shivam (Karam Rajpal) and Riya (Ekta Kaul). Ammaji (Krutika Desai) wants Shivam and Riya to start a family.
Beyhadh : This Sony TV show’s crew will soon pack its bags and leave for shooting in Mauritius. The Mauritius schedule will serve as a major game changer for the leads of the show Arjun (Kushal Tandon), Maya (Jennifer Winget) and Saanjh (Aneri Vajani). We have already seen a glimpse of Maya’s craze for Arjun. We’re sure that we would be treated to some more of Maya’s craziness.
