What’s life without twists and turns, and what is a daily soap without twists and turns! Just like we don’t like to live a ‘boring’ and ‘bland’ life and keep looking for adventures, an Indian daily soap just cannot do without ‘SHOCKING’ twists and turns, can it?
Several stalwart shows make it a point to keep presenting some unanticipated twists and turns in their plot in order to keep the viewers engaged. While, some of them turn out to be eye-protrudingly shocking, some are not that impactful.
Here, we list down the TOP TWISTS and TURNS that changed the viewing of that particular show.
Shagun turning NEGATIVE again in ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ : The ardent fans of the show may mention about how the character of Shagun (Anita Hassanandani) just cannot be imagined as an out-and-out ‘positive’ character. However, it was the nature of this twist that made it a shocking one, where Shagun was positive for a suspiciously long amount of time. But, when the plot was totally focused on Raman (Karan Patel) and Ishita (Divyanka Tripathi), Shagun showed her true colours by doing what she does best!
The kidnapping of Saumya and Harman falling for Saumya in ‘Shakti… Astitva Ke Ehsaas Kii’ : While the whole revelation of Saumya (Rubina Dilaik) being a kinnar was anticipated, the post drama was certainly not. Who would have thought that Saya would get Saumya kidnapped and will get her into the world of kinnar community! The track of Saumya’s atrocities followed but presenting the same on commercial television was a shocking moment. And of course, Harman (Vivian Dsena) falling for Saumya, despite knowing that she is a kinnar was a shock in itself.
Shivaay turning grey in ‘Ishqbaaaz’ : No one expects a quintessential hero in a show to turn GREY soon, does one? And especially, talking about the one and only Shivaay (Nakuul Mehta), we certainly did not see this coming. In order to save his family pride and reputation, when Shivaay stooped down to the level of kidnapping Sahil (Aaryan Prajapati) and use him as bait to get Anika (Surbhi Chandna) married to him was a move, no one expected.
Atharv turning mentally unstable in ‘Jaana Na Dil Se Door’ : The whole separation drama between Atharv (Vikram Singh Chauhan) and Vividha (Shivani Surve) was full of drama. However, the twist in the tale occurred post Ravish’s (Shashank Vyas) entry in the show. While Vividha got married to Ravish, one did not expect Atharv’s re-entry into the show, the way it happened. When was the last time you saw a protagonist turning mentally unstable and staying the same way? Unless we have a quintessential ‘I-was-faking-it’ drama staged ahead, this was certainly an unanticipated twist.
Sandhya and Sooraj’s tragic death in ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ : Welcome to the show which changed the age-old notion of a ‘happy ending’. The fans of the Star Plus long-runner, ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ got disappointed on the news about the show going off-air. However, what one did not expect was the climax of the show as it was. Almost every other show that goes off-air goes off in the perfect ‘happy ending’ manner. ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ however, changed that and witnessed the lead protagonists of the show, Sooraj (Anas Rashid) and Sandhya (Deepika Singh) dying at the end.
Maya revolts for the first time against Ashwin in ‘Beyhadh’ : While, ‘Beyhadh’ has been staging fantastic thrills and amazing twists in almost every other episode, one of the prime twists in the show was Maya (Jennifer Winget) FINALLY replying to Ashwin (Rajesh Khattar). It was this scene when Maya became invincible. The otherwise powerful and dominating Maya had one weakness and that was getting scared of Ashwin. However, that changed when she finally had Arjun (Kushal Tandon) in her life. Having Arjun around gave Maya the courage to stand up against Ashwin. It was an absolutely unanticipated twist.
While these were some of the most jaw-dropping twists over the year, we can be rest assured that these shows will keep on entertaining us with more twists and turns. Which one has been your favourite? Leave in your comments below..
