2016 has been a wedding galore for reel as well as real life couples. On screen or off screen, we’ve seen so many weddings, outfits, jewellery, hair and makeup in those, that we’re now spoilt for choice.

In our ‘BestOf2016’ features marathon, we present to you guys today a list of the best weddings that we saw on indian television this year.

The much awaited Devakshi wedding in Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi : Watching a love story, culminate into marriage, is the best thing to witness. And this is what we saw in Sony TV’s Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi. The union of Dev (Shaheer Sheikh) and Sonakshi (Erica Fernandes) in holy matrimony, beating all odds, served with a perfect tadka of family drama, was a phenomenal moment for their ardent fans.
The Tragic Matrimony of Shivika in Ishqbaaaz : Well, this was the most unexpected and one hell of a wedding! TV’s favorite couple Shivaay (Nakuul Mehta) and Anika (Surbhi Chandna) finally got married in the show with all band baaja and drama! Fun, glamour, twist, shocks… this wedding saw it all! The grandeur setting, the ambiance and the complete wedding finery, simply blew our minds away.
The Reviving of Nuptial Vows in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein : Raman (Karan Patel) and Ishita’s (Divyanka Tripathi) was not a marriage, but re-marriage. As the couple had lived separately for quite a few years, their marriage was null and void. And as they say- opportunity only knocks once, Raman and Ishita got the chance to renew their wedding vows and they jumped at the opportunity. Amidst the festivities of their son Adi’s (Abhishek Verma) engagement to his ladylove Aaliya (Krishna Mukherjee), Raman and Ishita got married again and this time more that willingly.
Recreating the magic in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai : This was a bitter sweet marriage for Akshara (Hina Khan) and Naitik (Vishal Singhh) as they renewed their wedding vows for one last time before Akshara’s death. And this was planned on the occasion of Akshara’s birthday by Naira (Shivangi Joshi) and Gayu (Kanchi Singh). The kids also treated their parents to their journey so far.
The union of destined soulmates in Pardes Mein Hai Mera Dil : We recently witnessed the shocking track of Naina’s (Drashti Dhami) marriage to Raghav (Arjun Bijlani) instead of Veer (Laksh Lalwani) in an elaborate setting, which was in sharp contrast to the situation. Plaintiff Naina is supposed to marry playboy Veer who develops cold feet at the time of his wedding and runs away, putting the respect of the Mehra family and Naina at stake. Enters Raghav, a distant relative to the Mehras and their faithful servant and saving the day for the family, marries Naina. Though sad, the wedding sequence was a win win for us.
The one-of-a-kind wedding in Shakti… Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki : Harman (Vivian Dsena) and Soumya’s (Rubina Dilaik) wedding happened under societal pressure. Harman kidnaps Soumya thinking her to be someone else and by the time he realizes his mistake, it gets too late. The village folk berate Harman and Soumya for spending the night together without marriage and in a bod to save their reputation, Harman’s father gets the duo married.
The filmy shaadi of Ek Rishta Saajhedari Ka : The Marwari wedding of Aryan (Kinshuk Vaidya) and Saanchi (Shivya Pathania) was hands down the best that we saw this year. And how couldn’t it be perfect? The wedding festivities lasted a whole 30 days and had all the authentic Marwari rituals incorporated perfectly.

Which of the above weddings was the best? Take your pick and let us know in the comment section below.
