“I walked in as a pampered guy and came out as a mature man,” says Rohan.
Coming so close to the finale, (the top 5 to be precise), Rohan Mehra has now been evicted from the house after 102 days. His journey in the house has been one roller coaster ride for sure. We got into a candid chat with him and here’s all that he has to say.
How are you feeling? You feel relieved?
Actually, after coming so close to finale, 102 days to be precise, while the show was of 105 days, I feel bad, but at the same time good too. My journey of almost 15 weeks in the house was great. To explain everything I might have to write a book altogether because it is very difficult to put it into words. It has been a lifetime experience for me, which I will never forget. I am also thankful to my fans that they’ve liked me on the show and brought me to the top 5, which for me, is a very big thing.
Your journey has been a roller coaster ride – you’ve lost things and you’ve won things over. Can you tell us something about your journey?
Whoever goes into Bigg Boss and survives in the house for 105 days, or more than 100 days for that matter, they’ve always had ups and downs in the show. It is only then that you will have things to talk about. And for anybody who’s been in the house for so long, the journey hasn’t been all smiles, for you do get upset time and again. You get sad, you cry and you feel more than you would.
The tasks as well are designed in such a manner that you have to stand against people you are close to and such things keep happening. So yes, there were many ups and downs. But I’d call myself fortunate enough to have rather become more calm and patient after my stay in the Bigg Boss Season 10 House.
Patient bhi bann gaya hu,’ I’ve got hurt and scratches after all the tasks. But, I am happy. I had entered the house as a pampered boy, but inside, I’ve learnt the way of life and I can now survive on my own without anyone’s help. I know how things function now. I can cook And I can do everything on my own.
You’ve also made many friends in the house.
Yes definitely. Karan Mehra tops the list, I knew him earlier as well. Next, I got even close to Gaurav Ji. There is no need to mention about Rahul ji (Rahul Dev) and Lopa since everyone has seen it. They both were my lifelines and I couldn’t have survived without them. The bond I shared with these 4 people was great and I’ll keep it the same outside the house as well.
Talking about Lopa, there were a lot of statements made regarding how you have become her ‘secretary’ and you follow her ‘orders’. What do you have to say about that?
I don’t know about any such statements actually, because I’ve come out of the house today morning only. But, all I want to say is that Bigg Boss is not scripted, but it is edited. I don’t think such statements are true because we’ve done things for each other throughout. She made food for me for 100 days in the house. So if in return I made coffee or helped her out, I don’t think it’s following her orders. It is just a part of friendship. Because, Dosti Ki Hai Toh Nibhani Toh Padegi.’ And, that’s how we stuck together till the end. Even during the ranking task for that matter, we both were ready to go out for each other.
You and Lopa have had many fights. There have been points when Lopa did not understand you and you used to get irritated.
I felt that Lopa did not understand me. And I am sure even she would have felt that I don’t understand her. But, that is what our Friendship was. We used to discuss and explain things to each other and within 10-15 minutes, we had our things sorted. At the most, half a day, but this is what in a way, is the definition of Friendship for everybody. For now, all I want is Woh Jeet ke aye.’
During fights, you and Lopa always ended up becoming the target.
I did not really have it all figured, because during the show, that never came across to me. However, I don’t know what has been shown. But, me and Lopa were always on the same side, while Manu and Manveer were on the other. Yes, there have been ups and downs, but that’s okay. Bani however, after Gaurav ji’s exit tried to befriend Nitibha, but after that, she had no one but Manu – Manveer. I didn’t really understood her strategy.
Talking about Bani, she had had many catfights with Lopa. There have been instances where you took a stand for Bani and Lopa did not like it, how did you manage such situations?
I just want to say that none of them were 100 percent correct. They both have had their own instances. I always tried to point out the one who was wrong and let them sort it out with the other one. However, whenever I tried to explain to Bani that okay she’s wrong or anything, she used to always take it negatively because she felt I am favoring Lopa. I have actually supported her throughout, but she has somehow misunderstood me. I never really understood Bani and her strategy in the show.
Salman had praised you through the first two weeks. But, what went wrong later on?
Yes, Salman had given me a boast initially, but with time, things came out in the open and there were times when things were done purposely and therefore, making an issue of them, made no sense. But, if we talk about taking a stand, I’ve always stood up for myself.
There have been so many fights in the house. Be it Om Swami, or Lopa – Bani. How did you guys deal with such situations?
The game is only like that, such situations used to crop up and we used to try sort things out. Things became so big, that even when ‘sorries’ were told, people used to be in their own ego and things turned out bad often.
Out of both Bani and Lopa, who has a bigger ego?
Well, I have to say this, Lopa has a rather bigger ego.
Who according to you is playing a ‘dirty’ game in the house?
I guess it’s Manu. It’s quite visible. He keeps shuffling things here and there and often, he’s said things against Manveer. I haven’t liked him since the very beginning because he keeps making fun of others and speaks behind their back. For that matter, even in the Telephone task, I made sure to mention about such incidents. Manu I guess isn’t true at heart, but Manveer is doing really well.
Who according to you should win Bigg Boss Season 10?
(laughs) Obviously I want Lopa to win. But, I also feel Manveer might win the show.
Hina Khan has supported you since day one. What do you have to say about that?
Obviously, ‘Maa Hai Vo meri.’ I really want to thank her and when I came out of the house at 4, she along with Kanchi and a few other friends were present there to welcome me. I felt really good about it.
There have been rumors that your girlfriend Kanchi has been supposedly insecure about your friendship with Lopa.
I don’t know about it yet. I met her and I did not feel anything like that at all. However, about being possessive, it is an obvious thing to happen. Had I been in her place, I would have behaved in a similar manner. But, since the very beginning, I have said that Kanchi is the one, and she’ll be the one until the end. I am very serious about her, and I have taken her name time and again. I think its not insecurity, but only a little possessiveness that she has.
You left Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ for Bigg Boss. What do you have to say about that?
When I was offered Bigg Boss, I had said a yes almost immediately. Of course, Salman Khan is hosting it after all. Even if it was just for once, I would have gone for it, it’s Salman Khan we are talking about. I can do anything if it’s for him. I was happy after the very first episode. When I entered the house, I was a pampered guy, but I came out as a mature man. I learnt a lot in the house.
Things you’ll miss about the about Bigg Boss House?
I’ll miss the House itself, and Bigg Boss’ Voice. It had become a daily routine for us. And of course, the friends I made in the house.
Lastly, your message for the fans?
First of all, a huge thank you to all of you for supporting me for the entire 15 weeks. I hope you guys keep supporting me in whatever I do ahead.
We wish Rohan all the best for his future endeavours!!
