The talented Rani Mukherjee who plays a senior inspector fighting evil crimes in the upcoming movie Mardaani met a real life crime fighter, Fatma Khatun on Sony Entertainment Television’s Kaun Banega Crorepati. A victim of human trafficking, Fatma showed immense courage to fight this crime. Married off at the age of 9 to a man thrice her age, Fatma was subjected to brutal physical abuses by her mother-in-law. Fatma’s in laws and husband dealt in trafficking which she witnessed in her house each day. With time, Fatma got the courage to help 5 women from her own house but in the bargain of being ruthlessly beaten up by her husband.
Moved by her fighting spirit, Rani dedicated a few lines to Fatma, “Ek thi Jhansi ki Rani aur ek ho tum”. Rani also felicitated the brave heart with a Mardaani t-shirt and a medal. Overwhelmed by Rani’s appreciation, Fatma hugged and thanked her for her kind words and Mr. Bachchan for giving her the opportunity to be part of the show.
